Non-Stick Coating Durability of Up to 100,000 Scrubs
Tefal pans are coated with high-quality titanium and mineral-based non-stick coatings that are durable and resistant to up to nearly 100,000 scrubs (depending on the model). This high durability means that the pans last much longer. Not only that, but Tefal’s non-stick coating also offers comfort to our customers because it is easy to clean.
Your health and the health of your family are very important to us. Therefore, we ensure that Tefal’s Titanium non-stick material is safe to use for cooking, as it is free from harmful substances like PFAS and PFOA. Tefal only uses PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) non-stick coatings, a non-reactive, bioaccumulative material with high durability, rust-resistant, and, most importantly, safe for health.

Tefal Pans Are Not Made with TEFLON™ Historically, Tefal used the TEFLON™ brand coating for its non-stick pans. However, when Groupe SEB acquired Tefal in 1968, they decided to produce their own non-stick coating internally to have better control and manage all stages of production.
Tefal always ensures that its products are safe for all consumers, and this has always been a top priority. At Tefal, we oversee every stage of production, and our coatings are proprietary and exclusive. Our non-stick coatings are free from PFOA, lead, and cadmium, and our standards are stricter than those required by current food contact regulations. They are PFOA-free as per applicable regulations. Being free from lead and cadmium (without Pb and without Cd) means there is no intentional addition of lead or cadmium in the coating, and these metals are undetectable in tests conducted by external laboratories.
Tefal pans and cookware use PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene). PTFE is a polymer compound discovered in 1938 by scientist Roy J. Plunkett (1910-1994) and is a well-known non-stick material that is chemically inert, bioaccumulative, highly durable, rust-resistant, and most importantly, not harmful to human health – making it safe to come into contact with food during cooking. Research conducted by public health authorities in Europe and the United States has confirmed the safety of PTFE as a substance that does not pose a danger, even if accidentally ingested. PTFE has been recognized by health authorities such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as a material that does not pose any risk to human health and is safe for food contact. In addition to its excellent non-stick properties, this proven safety is why Tefal chooses PTFE coatings for its pans and cookware.
Characteristics of PTFE:
The Most Non-Stick Material:
Its non-stick properties allow cooking even the softest ingredients without the need to add fat. This material ensures optimal cooking for consistent culinary results every day.
Tested and Approved:
Research conducted by public health authorities in Europe and the United States has confirmed the safety of PTFE. It is a substance that poses no risk, even if accidentally ingested. Its molecules are too large to be absorbed by the body.
Durable:
PTFE remains stable in both cold and hot conditions, even at high temperatures typically reached during cooking.
